E-Bikes Seized

Through proactive patrols and targeted operations over recent months, officers from Swinton Neighbourhood Team have seized a large number of illegal modified E-bikes and Surrons being used unlawfully on our roads.

Officers have also engaged with riders and parents to raise awareness of the legal requirements and risks associated with these bikes.

Many Surrons and modified E-Bikes are classed as motor vehicles, meaning riders may require insurance, a licence and vehicle registration. Riding without these can result in seizure, fines and prosecution.

These vehicles are often linked to antisocial behaviour, dangerous riding and, in some cases, wider criminality. 

We will continue to take robust action against those using them illegally while educating young people and parents to help keep our communities safe.
